In this session, Steven Elias, Dean of the Monfort College of Business at the University of Northern Colorado, will share how NASA innovations can spark creativity in the classroom, elevate student-led projects, and unlock fresh approaches to problem‑solving. Discover how to bring the mindset of space‑driven innovation into business and entrepreneurship programs — and learn practical strategies for integrating NASA tech into your courses and student projects.
Dr. Steven Elias serves as Dean of the Monfort College of Business at the University of Northern Colorado, where he leads a business school committed to preparing career-ready graduates, advancing innovation, and contributing to the economic vitality of Northern Colorado. Under his leadership, the college emphasizes student-centered learning, strong regional partnerships, and immersive experiences that connect classroom learning with real-world problem solving.
At UNC, Steve has supported the integration of NASA Technology Transfer University initiatives into business and entrepreneurship education, helping students explore how NASA technologies can inspire new ideas, ventures, and practical solutions. He is especially interested in how aerospace-driven innovation can expand students’ creativity, strengthen applied learning, and prepare them to address complex challenges in business and society.
Before joining UNC in 2025, Steve served as the Katz Endowed Dean of the Katz School of Business at Fort Lewis College, where he strengthened community engagement and expanded experiential learning opportunities connecting students with local businesses, nonprofits, and regional partners. His academic background is in organizational behavior and leadership, and his work reflects a deep commitment to the role of higher education in serving communities, supporting industry, and developing the next generation of leaders.
